We Offer Advanced Neurology Treatments to Improve Your Well-Being
The Most Advanced Neurology Treatments Tailored to Your Specific Condition
Neurological disorders — from migraines to seizures to strokes and much more — can wreak havoc on your life. That’s why it’s so vital to get a proper diagnosis and start treatment as soon as possible. It can make all the difference to your well-being and quality of life.
With precise diagnostic tools, a thorough examination, analysis of your full history and symptoms, and years of experience, we create a personalized treatment plan to help reduce your pain and restore function.

Treatment may include medication management, infusions, highly customized TMS, physical therapy, and more. But that treatment won’t even begin without an accurate and complete diagnosis.

In his current role, he is the Founder and Medical Director of the Brain, Spine, and Pain Institute of Lake Nona in Orlando, Florida, and the Brain Treatment Center of Orlando.
Dr. Mbeo is a member of :
- The American Academy of Neurology (AAN),
- Society for Critical Care Medicine (SCCM),
- Neurocritical Care Society (NCS), and
- Clinical Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation Society (CTMSS).
He has published several articles in national and international publications.
Founder and Medical Director
Gilbert Mbeo, MD is a triple board-certified physician who specializes in Neurology, NeuroIntensive Care, and Interventional Pain Management, with over 13 years of experience providing evidence-based, high-quality care to patients with acute neurological needs including acute stroke, neuromuscular respiratory failure, status epilepticus, and brain and spinal cord trauma.
Dr. Mbeo is a Neurointensivist, meaning that not only does he have an in-depth understanding of neurology and neurological conditions, but his expertise is in the care of critically ill neurologic patients with acute brain, spine, and neuromuscular disorders. This specialty is also referred to as neurologic intensive care, critical care neurology, and neurocritical care.
As a Neurointensivist, Dr. Mbeo saw firsthand the life-changing consequences of brain injuries such as head trauma, strokes, and other brain injuries. He was troubled by the fact that, even though with modern medicine we are getting better at saving lives, many patients with brain injury were left with severe disabilities.
His vision was to establish a state-of-the-art facility where cutting-edge interventions would be used to enhance neurological recovery in patients and this is exactly why he founded the Brain, Spine, Pain Institute of Lake Nona in Orlando, Florida.
After learning about the brain healing effects of neuromodulation Dr. Mbeo established the Brain Treatment Center Orlando as an additional treatment department in his clinic in order to use interventions like cognitive rehabilitation, Magnetic Resonance Therapy (MeRT), and transcranial magnetic stimulation as non-invasive treatment options for an array of neurological conditions.

Effective Neurology Treatment Begins with Proper Diagnosis
Our advanced diagnostic tools include:
- EMG/Nerve conduction testing — measures muscle or nerve response to help detect neuromuscular abnormalities.
- EEG testing — includes routine EEGs (recorded in the clinic), ambulatory (recorded at home), and qEEG (brain mapping), which can detect any changes in brain wave patterns.
- Brain CT scan — uses x-rays to make detailed pictures of every part of your brain.
- VNG (Videonystagmography) test — can determine if you have an inner ear imbalance or disorder.
- TCD (Transcranial Doppler) – uses ultrasound to detect the structure of brain blood vessels and assess changes in brain blood flow. Used to predict the risk of brain disorders such as stroke.
With thorough testing and analysis, we can accurately diagnose your condition and create a precise, tailored treatment plan to address your specific condition and concerns.
Your treatment plan will often include neurological rehabilitation, a specialized form of physical therapy that can restore function and improve the quality of life for those affected by neurological impairments or disabilities.
Some of the Neurology Services we Offer at Brain & Spine Pain Orlando:
Concussion and Traumatic Brain Injury Program
Brain injuries often have a life-changing impact on patients and their families. Our approach is to use advanced neurodiagnostic technology, including qEEG brain mapping and neurocognitive testing, among others, to determine your neurologic baseline prior to any brain injury ever occurring.
With this information, whenever an unexpected injury occurs, our treatment may include customized TMS and Physical Therapy, which can be tailored toward giving you the best chance for a good recovery.

Stroke Treatment
We provide both acute stroke intervention and after-stroke recovery treatment. The success of stroke treatment does also depend on how soon a person seeks medical care.
Our stroke recovery treatment focuses on helping you recover as much function as possible, so you can return to independent living. We will create and deliver a personalized program which may include MeRT (Magnetic e-Resonance Therapy), a highly tailored form of TMS, and physical therapy.
Neuromuscular Disorders
The key to treating neuromuscular disorders, such as peripheral neuropathy and myasthenia gravis, is to manage the symptoms and delay the progression. These disorders can cause numbness and/or weakness and can affect balance. That’s why it’s so vital to correctly diagnose and treat the symptoms as rapidly as possible.
Our comprehensive testing, diagnosis, and treatment plan includes physical therapy to improve balance and mobility, which can keep a person as active and independent as possible.

Seizure Disorders
When a person is dealing with a seizure disorder such as epilepsy, it can be difficult to know when it will occur or how to stop it when it happens. And that can make life unbearable.
Before any treatment, we perform a variety of tests to accurately diagnose the disorder. This may include an ambulatory EEG, which the patient wears at home, and that can record changes in brainwave patterns for up to 72 hours. Once we have the proper diagnosis, we can then create a tailored treatment plan. This treatment may also include managing potential triggers for seizures, such as sleep deprivation, stress, drug or alcohol use, and more.
Multiple Sclerosis and Parkinson’s
MS symptoms can mimic other diseases and conditions, and an accurate diagnosis is vital so that treatment can begin as soon as possible. We conduct thorough and exacting tests to ensure we have the correct diagnosis and then can begin the most effective treatment plan.
Treatments for MS can include many things, such as medications, IV treatment, dietary interventions, and more. And physical therapy is essential to slow down the progression of complications and help with mobility, function, and balance.
For Parkinson’s disease, as with other neurological disorders, we begin with thorough diagnostic testing and analysis to determine an accurate diagnosis. Then we create a treatment plan to manage symptoms with medication, IV treatment, and physical therapy focused on improving movement.

Headaches and Migraines
Headaches are one of the most frequent reasons for a neurological consultation, as they are such a common health issue. And migraines can affect up to 12% of the US population and can be debilitating. It’s essential to correctly diagnose a migraine, as it can often be incorrectly diagnosed as a cluster headache, sinus headache, or neck pain.
Migraine and headache treatment can be acute to get rid of the immediate pain. They can also be preventative to reduce the frequency of headaches. We provide both IV infusions and botulinum toxin (i.e., Botox) to treat headaches and migraines.
Memory Loss, Dementia, and Alzheimer’s
Cognitive and memory problems can be mild, such as those naturally occurring as we age. Or they can be more severe, such as dementia or Alzheimer’s disease. We need to accurately diagnose whether this is an age-related memory issue or something much deeper. To do that, we need to complete a thorough neurological consultation and perform additional tests, such as an EEG.
While there is no cure for dementia or Alzheimer’s, we have found that treatment with MeRT (Magnetic e-Resonance Therapy) can be effective in slowing disease progression. And this can lead to a higher quality of life for a longer period.
